Lodge 150 is a declaration of love for nature. Located in the heart of the largest Styrian nature park, the Steirische Eisenwurzen nature and geopark, there are three other large protected areas in the immediate vicinity: in the west the Gesäuse and Kalkalpen national parks, in the east the Dürrenstein wilderness area. Palfau serves as an ideal base for exploring these wild natural beauties at the interface of the Ennstal and Ybbstal Alps and the Hochschwab group. Here you can not only go high, but also go deep. In the Salza, the longest unspoilt wild river in Austria. Forty kilometers of unregulated white water make the hearts of all water sports enthusiasts beat faster. But the Salza can do more than just fast currents, eddies and rapids. Its reputation as one of the most beautiful wild rivers in Europe precedes it. And here, in the middle of this idyll, you will find the Lodge 150, probably the best temporary home. The house number 150 is not an empty number, it is a promise: for 150% enjoyment of nature and 150% feel-good factor.
Ode to the mountains: heart and home
The Lodge 150 also stands for 150% mountaineering history. It is the home of the three brothers and well-known mountaineers Franz, Adi and Lois Huber. Your home, the best imaginable school for what came next: the mountains of this world, the Himalayas, the 8,000 mark. The "Huberhaus" has remained in Huber’s hands. For Silvia Huber, Adi's daughter, the question has never arisen whether she should “just sell her home away”, as she says. During the summer, the native Palfau runs a mountain hut in Tyrol, another Huber family affair for over 50 years. But Palfau remains her home. So that it doesn't get too lonely in the big Huberhaus, Silvia has decided to open the gates to guests. The Lodge 150 was created - and with it two apartments whose names could not be more detailed: Heart and Home. In the wood-paneled holiday apartments, there is space for four and six people between the traditional and the modern. Fully equipped, with a balcony view of the Hochkar and the
Gesäuse mountains, there is only one problem: you won't want to leave again.
Time for the outdoors
Heart and home, that is also a message from Silvia to her guests: Against the short life of a tightly packed program marathon and for lingering and enjoying. Seen in this way, you only really need to bring one thing with you: time. And in view of the surrounding landscapes, they are also needed. Mountaineering in the Gesäuse, hiking in the Wasserlochklamm natural monument, swimming in the Salza, winter skiing on the Hochkar or touring on the Gamsstein. And then there are still the wilderness area Dürrenstein and the Hochschwab area or a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Geodorf Gams - as well as Silvia's brother, who serves the undisputedly best baked potatoes on both sides of the Styrian national borders in the waterhole tavern.
Fortunately, you can stay in Lodge 150 for a longer period of time. Silvia is happy. The Huberhaus should be 150% again: 150% home.
