"The great thing about this game is that even the bad days are beautiful," Bill Clinton once enthused about golf, and many a golfer would agree with him. After all, golf is not just for the rich and ambitious, but for all those who enjoy spending time in the fresh air.
And the Golf- und Landclub Ennstal has more to offer in terms of nature than others of its kind. The 18-hole course is the only golf course in Europe to be located in a Natura 2000 area. Nature conservation is a top priority here, with numerous biotopes lining the course and golf balls flying alongside corncrakes and grass frogs.

Weißenbach/Liezen combines sport with active nature conservation. As the only golf course in a ‘Natura 2000’ protected area, the club has been focussing on ecological measures and sustainable maintenance for decades.
✔ Preserving biodiversity & habitats
Near-natural management safeguards endangered habitats and protects rare species such as the corncrake.
✔ Sustainable care & ecological managementBiotope, Wasserflächen und Biotopes, water areas and succession areas are deliberately managed extensively in order to constantly improve the ecological balance.
✔ Preserving cultural heritage
Rural cultural assets such as the original Ennstal hay barn and wooden log barns are maintained and preserved.
✔ Promoting education & research
Excursions, birdwatching, information boards and lectures turn the golf course into a learning centre for environmental awareness.
The GLC Ennstal favours a healthy balance between ecology and economy - as a role model for sustainable golf.
