The Gesäuse has a lot to offer. But you won't find lifts like gondolas or chairlifts here.
So if you want to get up there, you have to rev up own engine, because here, the journey is to be considered the goal. In the mountaineering village of Johnsbach, the best way to get there is to go ski touring on two skis. Breathtaking winter landscapes, excellent snow conditions, located in the middle of the Gesäuse national park - hidden in a side valley, on the south side of the Hochtor Group.
At the Ski Touring BaseCamp you can work your way up through the various national park tours. Afterwards you can wedel through the powder snow. A little bit of help with perfect head and leg work and the necessary sense of security is provided by the mountain guides.
Winter resort tip: At the traditional Kölblwirt inn, you can then enjoy some well-deserved refreshments. Four generations of the Wolf family attach great importance to regionality and a responsible approach to nature, which you can see right away when you look at the menu. Among other things, you will find Styria beef from the family's own organic farm there.
