Seckauer Alpenradweg R24

Experience a great bike tour at the sunny foot of the Seckau Alps, discover idyllic places and cozy spots. At the end of the tour, you will reach Gaal, where you can stop for a bite to eat and be pampered.
Start in the center of Kraubath on the Mur Cycle Path and head towards St. Martha and St. Marein. The route continues to Seckau, where the imposing Seckau Abbey awaits you. Take the opportunity here to sample the extensive range of products at the Regner confectionery and the famous Seckau gingerbread. The route continues along country roads towards Gaal, where you can visit the exciting VW Beetle Museum. A detour to the Ingeringsee lake is recommended along the way. Treat yourself to Murtal specialties at the inns and refreshment stops.

  • From Graz:

    • Start in Graz and take the A9 (Pyhrn Motorway) northbound.
    • Exit at St. Michael in der Obersteiermark and continue on the B113 (Murtal Federal Road) towards Kraubath an der Mur.
    • Driving time is approximately 45 minutes.
  • From Vienna:

    • From Vienna, take the A2 (Southern Motorway) toward Graz, then switch to the S6 (Semmering Expressway).
    • Continue until you reach the Leoben-West exit, then follow the B115 and B113 to Kraubath an der Mur.
    • The drive takes around 2 hours.
  • From Salzburg:

    • From Salzburg, take the A10 (Tauern Motorway) south and switch to the A9 (Pyhrn Motorway) at Eben im Pongau.
    • After exiting at St. Michael in der Obersteiermark, follow the B113 towards Kraubath.
    • Driving time: approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Start from Kraubath an der Murt and take the Murweg to Ricthung Landgasthof Jagawirt. Turn left onto Laasstraße and follow the road. From Laas, turn right and then left at the next junction. Follow the road through Greith-West until the next crossroads and follow the road to the left and after a few meters turn right. Continue to Prankh along St. Marthastrasse. Turn left at the crossroads towards Kirchenweg.

At the end of the church path, you will reach the Maria im Paradiese chapel. Turn left here towards Sankt Marein, then right at the next crossroads and immediately right again. Follow the main road to the crossroads and keep right along the Saugrabenweg. The path leads into Grüngrabenweg. At the Grüngraben cross, turn right and take the Hochalmstraße. Follow the road to the fork in Hochalmstraße/Benediktstraße and turn right towards Benediktstraße.

Follow the road to the center of Seckau. Many places to stop for refreshments and the Seckau Abbey await you here. Ride past the municipal office of Seckau and follow Hammerbergstraße. The Regner confectionery, where the famous Seckau gingerbread is produced, is also on this route.

At the Hartstraße junction, take Hartstraße and follow it until you reach Seckauer Straße. Turn left here. Turn sharp left at Gasthof Steinmühle and take Gradenstraße. Turn left again onto Seckauer Straße. Follow the road to the crossroads at Gaaler Straße and turn right here towards Gaal. Follow the road straight ahead. Your destination is the Gasthof Wachter, which has been awarded a Falstaff prize and is famous in the region for its strudel variations. Here you can indulge yourself. 
Use the tour for a visit to Seckau Abbey or to take a look at the VW Beetle Museum.
There is a bus stop close to the start in Kraubath, which is well connected to public transport. Kraubath can also be reached by train. The route in the Murtal valley from Knittelfeld or Seckau is also easily accessible by public transport. More information on the Fahrplanauskunft ÖBB Scotty - ÖBB
