800 Jahre Knittelfeld

The Knittelfeld municipal library invites you to an event entitled “800 years of Knittelfeld integrated into Styrian and Austrian history”, with musical accompaniment by Peter Musenbichler.

To mark its 800th anniversary, Knittelfeld is presenting an exciting historical exhibition that covers the entire town. It sheds light on interesting questions such as why the Habsburgs avoided the name “Johann” for centuries, what Maria of Bavaria and Maria Theresa had in common and how a journeyman shoemaker from Knittelfeld indirectly made history in 1945. Those interested in history have the opportunity to purchase the Wartinger medal, which is named after the first archivist of Styria. After the presentation, visitors will receive detailed information on how to acquire this award and can put their knowledge of Styrian history to the test.
