All aboard - train departs
In the railway museum exhibition you can discover the fascinating world of railways. Here you can learn all about the beginnings of the railway in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and see how varied the railway work process is. You will also discover modern vehicle design and its development. The focus of each "theme room" is listed here. The vehicle exhibition on the adjacent ÖBB open-air site is impressive. From nostalgic trains to modern fire engines, there is everything to discover here!
First watch the impressive big ones and then experience the tiny little ones. A special experience is a visit to the model railway in Knittelfeld. Approx. 700 metres of track have been laid on an area of 120 m². With 5 standard-gauge and 4 narrow-gauge stations, a small railway world has been lovingly created with great attention to detail. On selected exhibition days, the miniature railway world is presented in the best possible way. Therefore, a special timetable with a running time of 1.5 hours has been developed. Different eras are shown here with nostalgic trains and vehicles from the current era. 80 trains, buses, tractors and other vehicles move around the model railway. Boredom is a foreign word here. Carnival all year round
Knittelfeld is a town that has many exceptional museums to offer. One of them is the 1st Austrian Carnival and Customs Museum "Alois Penz Museum", where around 5000 exhibits are on display. Here families can marvel at 400 square metres of carnival uniforms, witches' costumes, masks and much more. Children have the opportunity to dress up and have fun here.
Experience milk
In the OM Milcherlebniswelt in Knittelfeld you can learn everything about the white gold. Be there when delicious cheese is made and learn about the whole journey from the field to the shelf. You will also learn more about the value and preciousness of this natural product. An informative and interesting experience at the same time! You can enjoy yourself in Knittelfeld's city park. You can always relax near the playground - it's ideal for the little ones, while the grown-ups enjoy the beautiful weather outside. Right next to the park is a mini-golf course where you can put your skills to the test.
