The bomb bursts at 8
Phillis Southerbottle, who has been abandoned by her husband Mortimer, tries to rent out his now empty room out of financial necessity. Little does she know that her advertisement on the supermarket notice board will attract two shady characters! Especially as one is a very distinguished gentleman and the other pretends to be an artist and student. Osborn Duddlsack is also interested in the room - a rather uptight inspector from the "entire London police force". Coordinating the timing of three lodgers in one fell swoop so that neither the daughter is aware of her room being rented to the inspector nor of the fact that one of the dubious lodgers is her new boyfriend is, to put it mildly, pushing the landlady to her physical and psychological limits. When the "bomb" really drops remains a secret for the time being! But definitely not before eight o'clock!
