HWW station: tunnel path

Pinggau

On the Historic Long Distance Trail Wechselland, the history of the Wechselland region is made accessible on contemporary and innovatively designed display boards at more than 100 HWW stations.

This HWW station is part of the Wechselland Historical Long-Distance Hiking Trail (HWW). More information can be found at www.wechsel-wandern.at. Each HWW station is dedicated to a chapter from the history of Wechselland.

Topic:National Socialism 1938-1945 and Hitler's stay

North of Tauchen am Wechsel is the Great Hartberg Tunnel, where Adolf Hitler stayed in 1941 and where the largest forced labor camp in Wechselland was located in 1943-45. For this reason, the history of Nazi rule in Wechselland is described at this station.

Location of the HWW station:

Along the roads from Tauchen am Wechsel to Ochenbauer at the Tunnelweg junction about 400 meters northeast of Steirisch Tauchen No. 40.

This station also serves as a memorial to the victims of National Socialism for the Wechselland Historical Society!
