Fruit growing and mining between Feistritz and Rabenwald The beautiful rural community of Floing encompasses the sunny side of the Rabenwald.
At the very top, the valley is dominated by talcstone mining, where the softest stone in the world is extracted, and at the very bottom, the Feistritz meanders through the district called Unterfeistritz. In between are the pretty village of Lebing and many orchards that use the warm slopes to grow high-quality pome and berry fruit.
The streams feed small ponds in which the trout farmer breeds his fish, which he processes into delicious dishes. Numerous field monuments, such as the “Eckzeiler-Kreuz” or the “Stixn-Kreuz” are landmarks and monuments of faith.
Frescoes by Peter Stübinger show religious and secular motifs, such as the “Criminal Court of Neuhaus Castle”, which adorns the old parlor in the Stixpeter inn.
Hiking trails between Anger, Lebing and the Kreilkogel connect the culinary highlights of Floing.
