There is a lot to discover on the Schöckl, which borders Graz on one side and the Passailer Kessel in the Almenland Nature Park on the other. There are numerous hiking trails and cycle routes leading up to the summit and a downhill bike route back down again. The mountain railroad, which starts in St. Radegrund, takes guests and cyclists up to the top. Once at the top, there is a barrier-free hiking trail, plenty of places to stop for refreshments, the summer toboggan run, the opportunity to play disc golf and a motor skills park. Many also take the opportunity to take off or land with a paraglider.
Our hiking tip: the Schöckl loop road:
This hike gives you a perfect view of the Passailer Kessel, the Rote Wand, the Hochlantsch and other peaks of the Graz Bergland. You start at the “Schöcklkreuz”, where you will also find the parking lot (note: there is a charge!). Then it's either a leisurely ascent along the gravel road (Panoramaweg) or a little steeper along the “Jägersteig”.
