The sports trail, which is seven kilometers long, is the longest circuit that can be completed for the skating specialists among us. We start in the start/finish area directly at the Gasthof Orthofer in St. Jakob im Walde. After the first 700 meters and the first incline, we reach the highest point of the trail at around 1,170 meters above sea level. After this hill we follow the cross-country ski trail down to Blochplatz and straight on into a forest. At the Riegler Kohlstatt intersection we continue straight ahead until we reach the lowest point after a total of just under two kilometers of the trail. But that also means that we immediately have to climb a 300-meter-long climb. After this climb we reach the Füttung intersection, here we turn left and continue to follow the blue markings of the sports trail. After another half a kilometer we come back to the 5 or 3.3 kilometer cross-country ski trail. Here we keep to the right and then, after a long left turn, we come to Blochplatz. Here we turn right into the next exit through a small forest. This is followed by the next short climb and then another descent to the turning point. Here we almost come to a 180° curve and run up the descent we just enjoyed on the other side of the trail. After a tight right-hand bend, we follow the track until we turn right just before the snow-making pond and walk the last few meters to the finish.
A professional cross-country skiing lesson is always worthwhile - the qualified trainers on the Jogllandloipe help beginners with their first laps on the trail and advanced skiers to improve their technique.
