The following stage layout is just one of many possible variations.
We start our 4th day stage of the MTB tour "Der große Jogl" in Wenigzell. We ride past the church to the Joglland Oasis, then immediately turn right, past the mini golf course and arrive at the Wenigzell local history museum. Here we keep right and follow the gravel path. A slight uphill section begins at the end of the forest. We pass the Bergler Stub'n inn and continue to the well-known crossroads, the Toten Mann. Various legends surround this wayside shrine, for example that a pilgrim to Mariazell died here.
There are now various options at the Toter Mann crossroads. Cyclists who would like to climb the next summit can make a detour to the Wildwiese with its lookout point and Wildwiesenhütte hut. (Option 2).
The tour from the Toten Mann now leads us further into the village of Miesenbach. We take the leftmost road, pass a farm and continue slightly downhill into a wooded area. We follow this road for around four kilometers and turn left at the next clearing. At the end of the road, we cross a settlement and then turn right into the center of Miesenbach. Here, too, there are numerous opportunities for a break at the various inns. After the church, we first turn left and then immediately right after the houses. We pass the "Hornschmied" watermill and after about one kilometer we come to Gasthof Wiesenhofer (bed & bike establishment). Here you will find a highlight for all mountain bikers in the Joglland - Waldheimat region - Trailland, the first trail park in Eastern Styria. Various flow trails and the drag lift, which makes the ascent easier, invite you to spend more time here.
From Gasthof Wiesenhofer, we follow the signs to the Zeiseleck. Once we reach the Zeiseleck at around 1078 meters above sea level, we take the same route back, but turn right at the crossroads. The tour takes us via the so-called Wolfgrube to the Schloffereck. Here we have a wonderful view of our neighboring region, the Pöllau Valley. From Schloffereck, we follow the main road to the former Kreuzwirt inn, which is still an important landmark for many hiking and cycling trails. Shortly before the former inn, we turn right and then keep right again. We turn into a wooded area and stay on this mostly flat road for around two kilometers. After a wayside shrine on the left, we turn right and pass several farms and Christmas tree plantations. Keep left at the next crossroads in a wooded area. The ascent to the Masenberg now begins. On the way to the summit, we first pass the Olmstoll and then the Glückskapelle chapel. We return along almost the same route.
The tour now continues in the direction of Puchegg, a district of Vorau, where we can take a break at the Gasthof Erzherzog Johann Höhe. On the so-called Amtmann Höhe, just a few meters away, we can also enjoy the magnificent view of the region. From here, it is only around two kilometers to our original starting point and now our destination, Vorau Abbey.
