Panoramic Tour – around the Schöckl

Mountain experiences and fantastic views far into the whole of Styria as well as invigorating and calming water characterise this leisurely cycle tour around St. Radegund and the Schöckl. Culinary delights can be enjoyed in inns along the way and historic spring paths and Calvary Hill provide cultural highlights.
The well signposted GU3 panoramic cycle path (green signs) absolutely lives up to its name and offers fantastic views and panoramas. To really enjoy the mountain experience though, you should be in good shape or on an e-bike. After all, there is a lot of cycling uphill – you have to climb 821 metres in altitude, but the effort is worth it.

It goes without saying that Graz's local mountain, the Schöckl at 1,445 m high, is the classic viewing platform in the Graz region. You can of course cycle up, but you don't have to if you choose the more comfortable option by cable car – perhaps completing the tour around the Schöckl afterwards, which starts at the St. Radegund spa hotel. This tour is not called panoramic for nothing, as it offers a 360 degree view of Styria, Hungary and Slovenia and of course the city of Graz.

On roads with little traffic you collect one metre in altitude difference after another. Refreshment is provided by several good inns located along the route. At the finish and start point in St. Radegund the WirZhaus(1 Gault Millau toque) and the Curcafé invite you to finish the tour. And if you would like to treat yourself to something good for the body and soul, visit the nearby Quellenweg (Spring Trail) for Kneipp and forest showers and find peace and quiet on the unique Calvary Hill.
