With great anticipation, the Association of Styrians in Vienna cordially invites you to the Styrian Ball 2025. It will take place on Friday, 10 January 2025, as always in the Vienna Hofburg. The new ball season starts with this warm-hearted highlight and brings Styrian joie de vivre and hospitality to the federal capital.

In 2025, the ball audience can look forward to a very special night: the region of Eastern Styria presents the Styrian Ball. It is rightly referred to as the Garden of Austria, where you can enjoy a wonderful holiday. These are the incredibly diverse garden landscapes around the Wechselland herb region, the Joglland-Waldheimat region, Hartbergerland, Apfelland-Stubenbergsee, the Almenland and Pöllauer Tal nature parks, Weiz, St. Ruprecht an der Raab and Gleisdorf.

Culinary delights, hiking, cycling, enjoying the wonderful nature far away from the crowds, doing something for your own health, wellness oases, celebrations - everything from relaxed "g'miatli" to sporty and ambitious is possible in Eastern Styria.

Classic of the Steirerball

A piece of tradition awaits the ball guests in front of the Hofburg - after all, it is the most densely wooded region in eastern Austria and is known for its timber industry: a wood carver will use a chainsaw to shape a small work of art from a log while the revellers enjoy themselves in the Hofburg. The spectacular result will be auctioned off after midnight for a good cause.

In keeping with tradition, the Steirerball 2025 will also feature the classics: the rousing opening by the Eichler dance school to the sounds of a large local band and the performance by the mystical Apfelmännern from Puch bei Weiz will kick things off. Thanks to the music groups that will be playing in the Hofburg's halls that evening, there will be music in the air everywhere. The DJ at the ball disco in 2025 will also be a local hero from the garden of Austria, that much is certain.

What else is on the programme?

The legendary sausage stand in the foyer as well as the classic ball delicacy platter await ball guests with East Styrian delights. Finely smoked Mulbratl and sheep's cheese are just some of the delicious ingredients. Other highlights of the evening include the classic beer tapping, a traditional wine tavern, the exuberant quadrille and much more. The midnight interlude? Three guesses, no: only one - the name begins with "E". The tombola will also offer lots of great prizes.

The evening will be hosted by a well-known and popular ORF presenter, with outfits from regional traditional costume manufacturers. Nothing will be forgotten to make the Steirerball 2025 feel like a real Eastern Styrian ball - and for good reason: this part of Styria is closer to Vienna than any other, both economically and in terms of tourism. The Joglland region around St. Jakob am Walde, Vorau, Miesenbach and Birkfeld, for example, owes its name to Empress Maria Theresa, Emperor Franz-Josef had his beloved apples delivered from Puch near Weiz and guests from Vienna were and still are picked up by some hosts in their own taxi bus.
