The "Grand Jogl Tour" touring mountain bike route encompasses every municipality of the Joglland-Waldheimat region, showcasing its rich variety and the loveliest spots.

"The Grand Jogl Tour" takes the cyclist along a wide variety of paths, roads and trails around the Joglland-Waldheimat region. Many beauty spots, such as the Hochwechsel and the Masenberg peaks, stand out for the wonderful views they offer, while other attractions, such as the Trail Land bike park (version 1), offer that special extra something for bikers. There is also an abundance of welcoming mountain huts and quaint guesthouses; the certified bed & bike accommodation establishments along the route are ideal places to spend the night on this multi-day tour. This tour is ideal for all cyclists as it can be divided into stages (from two to four days), while the seasoned mountain biker may be able to complete the 200-km route with a 5600-metres elevation gain in a day.

Version 2 of "The Grand Jogl Tour" leads from the Toter Mann junction via the Wildwiese pasture to the next connection point, the former Kreuzwirt guesthouse.

From Vienna:

Via the A2 Südautobahn motorway to the Friedberg/Pinggau exit. Then travel via Dechantskirchen and Bruck/Lafnitz towards Vorau and the other municipalities in the region.

or:

Via the A2 Südautobahn motorway and the S6 Semmering dual carriageway to Krieglach. From here continue via Alpl into the Joglland-Waldheimat region.

From Graz:

Via the B72 to Weiz and on to Birkfeld in the Joglland-Waldheimat region.

Route planner for your journey

Stage 1: Vorau - St. Jakob im Walde   
  • We start at the Augustiner Chorherrenstift in Vorau and drive in the direction of the Makrtzentrum.   
  • We cross the main road and follow the "Dörflweg".   
  • After approx. 2 km we turn into a piece of forest   
  • We follow this path until we reach an asphalt road   
  • The asphalt road leads us to Waldbach-Mönichwald   
  • We continue in the direction of the Hochwechsellifts   
  • We pass the Hotel Schwengerer   
  • We go on and on until we reach the Hochwechsel   
  • Via the Rabl-Kreuz hut we drive to the Arzberg hut

Stage 2: St. Jakob im Walde - Fischbach   

  • We start in St. Jakob im Walde to Rettenegg   
  • We follow the main road for a short distance   
  • Before we turn into Rettenegg, we continue to Ratten.   
  • In Ratten we make a detour to the Pretul mountain   
  • We stay on the main route and drive to St. Kahtrein am Hauenstein   
  • In the mining village we turn right to the Roseggerhof farm.   
  • At Roseggerhof we come to Alpl, where we turn right   
  • At the crossing of the Schlagbauer we drive in the direction of Waldtoni-Alm   
  • From there a path leads to Fischbach

Stage 3: Fischbach - Wenigzell   

  • From Fischbach we drive to Birkfeld   
  • From Birkfeld we ride on the Feistritztalradweg R8 for approx. 4 km and turn right to Strallegg   
  • We pass by the village center to the Skilift   
  • After the snack station Posch we keep to the right and cycle in the direction of Wenigzell.

4th stage: Wenigzell - Vorau

  • We start in Wenigzell and pass the church to the crossing "Toter Mann".
  • Now there are two possibilities:
    • 1. we drive to the wild meadow
    • 2. we drive leisurely through the center of Miesenbach.
  • Now we continue to the schloffereck
  • From the Schloffereck we drive to the Gasthof Kreuzwirt
  • From there we continue to the Masenberg
  • Now we drive via Puchegg back to Vorau

Variant 1: via Miesenbach we have now completed about 180 kilometers and 5200 meters of altitude.
