Karleck

Open
This is a challenging hike up the Karleck, which requires a certain level of fitness and endurance.
Due to its length, this hiking route should not be underestimated. However, once you reach the summit, the arduous climb is rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view of the Murau region. A worthwhile refreshment for this summit victory can then be taken at the Gastof Hirschenwirt in Schöder.

More information

Coming from Judenburg via Unzmarkt to Scheifling. Turn right here and drive to Murau. In Katsch an der Mur, keep right again and drive to Schöder.

Coming from Tamsweg via Ranten (or Stadl an der Mur) keep left towards Schöder.

Start at the Hirschenwirt inn in Schöder, past the Maria Schöder pilgrimage church, also known as the “Styrian Holy Blood”.

You continue past a ravine through a forest to Gasthaus Gangl. On the further path you pass an idyllic alpine hut (Hoisenbauerhütte) and continue towards Gangleck (1,612m). The hike continues through the forest. The last part of the hike can already be seen above the tree line, over a slightly sloping alpine pasture towards Feldkögerl. The hike towards Karleck continues on this ridge.

The way back is on the ascent route.
