Welcome to Ölmühle Puntigam
The story of the Salsachmühle
"Everything used to be better - the Salsachmühle is from the past" The mill in Salsach, in the green heart of Styria, was probably built around 1800. From 1877 to 1905, the mill was owned by Carl Egger. In 1907, Leopold Puntigam and his wife Rosalia bought the mill and continued to expand the business until his son Franz Puntigam and his wife Aloisia took over the business in 1948.
20 years later, in 1968, son Franz Puntigam and his wife Maria continued the family business. In 1970, the water power was replaced by electric motors. The mill raceway is now used as a fish pond. Another pillar of the business since 1978 has been earthworks. The flour mill was operated until 1986. The sawmill was shut down in 1991, but the machines and buildings are still there today. In 1988, the old oil mill was dismantled and completely modernised and moved to the mill building. In 2008, Franz Puntigam and his wife Michaela took over the family business in the fourth generation.
Since then, the company has been known as Müller or Salsachmüller.
As a family business with tradition, quality is our top priority. A small mill shop was lovingly built in 2014. In addition to our pumpkin seed oil, you will find many delicacies. We are happy to organise gift baskets or gift packages. A visit is always worthwhile!
