Safen Valley Path (Safentalweg)

Open
The Safentalweg leads to Bierbaum and the small village Loimeth to the natural monument 1000-year-old oak and surprises with beautiful panoramic views into the country.
The Safental trail leads through many forests.

A good entry point to the trail is at the Bad Blumau parish church. Here you continue in the direction of Kleinsteinbach via the Bad Blumau thermal park. Here you could already feel the peace and power of nature in the shade of the willow tree. Via the district Untergfangen you reach a small piece of road over the shadow forest in the direction of Bierbaum. Coming out of the forest, one drives to the right along the road up to the next turning possibility to the right. If you want to make a detour to the Extrazug inn, drive straight ahead over the railroad track and then turn left. On the right hand side you can see the nature garden "Am Schwalbenhof". Through the village of Bierbaum, past the 1000-year-old oak tree, at this place of power, a rest is recommended under these branches, as thick as many a tree. Through the forest and along the edge you come to Loimeth. Now it goes back to Bad Blumau.

After crossing the road, turn right at the Reithof Thermenland. At the next crossing go straight on to Kleinsteinbach. In the center of the village turn right. Here you will pass the wine tavern "Zum Stoabocha". A stop is recommended! After a short stretch you turn left towards Untergfangen and have a short climb ahead of you. After the Untergfangen district with a few houses, turn left and then left again for a short stretch of road. Here you turn right and come across the Schattenwald to Bierbaum. If you want to have a short rest you go straight on over the railroad track to the "Gasthaus Extrazug". To the right is the show garden "Am Schwalbenhof", which has been awarded the Nauturschaugartenplakette. Through the village of Bierbaum, which is characterized by many farms, you reach the 1000-year-old oak tree via a small incline. A natural monument to marvel at. At the edge of the forest and through the forest you come to the small village of Loimeth. At the crossroads turn right and then after about 300 m turn right. Here you cross a depression, first it goes downhill and then uphill. When you reach the Blumauberg, the trail continues on level ground for a short distance and then at the crossroads turn left downhill to Bad Blumau and back to the starting point of the Safentalweg.

Enjoy homemade specialties at the “Zum Stoabocha” wine tavern.
