The female side of wine enjoyment
They are a sworn community and call themselves "Die Weinblüten" (The Wine Blossoms): Six young female winegrowers from Styria's Vulkanland region were looking for a new approach to wine. It should be inspiring, authentic and feminine, just like the initiators themselves. Rosi" and "Rosa" emerged from this harmonious connection.
Do you already know "Rosi" and "Rosa"?
Two strong "personalities" of the "wine blossoms" ... "Rosi" is a fruity Zweigelt Rosé wine pressed from the grapes of the six female winemakers. The attention to detail is palpable: the sweetness-acidity ratio is optimally balanced. Although very expressive, the rosé comes across as refined and somehow feminine. "Duchess Rosa" comes to the table as a sparkling wine and convinces with pleasant acidity.
Everyone's ideas and thoughts flowed into the creation process of "Rosi" and "Rosa". The motto of the "wine blossoms" is namely: Together instead of alone. The grapes come from all six farms, twelve hands tackle together, six noses and palates ensure new taste experiences. And each female winemaker then offers the same wine.
Thoughts of the female winemakers
The fact that in the 21st century it is still almost exclusively men who determine where things go in terms of viticulture in Styria is truly a scandal. Feminism, women's quota and promotion still do not seem to have penetrated into the domestic (wine) mountain world. But mistakenly, six energetic female winemakers are proving the men's world wrong.
Claudia Fischer-Gangl, Anne Grießbacher, Beatrix Lamprecht, Sigrid Sorger, Kathrin Seidl and Bettina Tomaschitz have founded an association called "Die Weinblüten" (The Wine Blossoms) to counteract precisely this deplorable state of affairs. Together, they want to create a positive female role image and encourage more girls and women to take up the profession of winemaker. "Only five percent of farm managers in viticulture are women," says Sorger - they definitely want to increase this quota and so the offer is by no means only aimed at daughters from winegrowing families. In the next few years, frau wants to increase the number of members, intensify networking and promote professional training and further education in order to additionally increase quality. The Zweigelt rosé wine "Rosi", which was vinified together for the first time in 2010, proves that this is already at a high level. In the meantime, "Rosi" has already got a big sister - "Duchess Rosa" captivates with its effervescent nature and fine bubbling elegance.
"Influenced by their own experiences and shaped by the different company structures, the characters of the female winemakers differ fundamentally," they let it be known and use this diversity for a strong joint appearance - for example at the JungWeiberSommer in May or the Weinblüten Picknick in August.
Cuveée Charité
The "Weinblüten - die Winzerinnen aus dem Vulkanland" is all about the female approach to wine. The six female winegrowers not only jointly press the wine "Rosi", but also organize very fine wine festivals. The heart of the wine blossoms also beats for social issues - thus they initiated the project "Cuvée Charitè", in which a considerable part of the proceeds from wine sales is donated to projects against domestic violence.
