The Jakelj distillery in Knittelfeld produces high-quality and exclusive distillates.
Since 2004, the Knittelfeld master distiller has been a regular exhibitor at Europe's largest international distillery fair. The successes are impressive: 5 brandies of the year, 37 gold medals, 100 silver and bronze medals and four times inclusion in the circle of selected distilleries. The distillery has been awarded the highest quality five times. In 2009, the master distiller won the Golden Stamperl, and at the Styrian regional tasting, he received 28 gold medals and was twice the winner of the variety award. Gault&Millau honoured him with the clear drop.
More recent successes include the rye malt whisky from Murboden, which was awarded two gold medals with the highest number of points at the Styrian regional tasting and the Destillata 2015. The master distiller was also Styrian regional winner in 2016 with the Wachau apricot and received five further gold medals.
