The municipality of St. Marein-Feistritz, with its direct connection to the S36 Murtal motorway, is a popular residential municipality in the rural area, with a population of around 2000 and an area of 70 km² in size.
The plain between Gulsen, Sulzberg and Eichberg is called the "Mareiner Boden". The natural area offers immediate local recreation. The main villages of St. Marein and Feistritz are connected by several municipal paths and invite you to take leisurely walks.
If you drive via Feistritz Hof Prankh Wasserleith into the Feistritzgraben, you will reach 2 managed alpine huts during the summer months. From these, marked paths lead up to the high alpine terrain. From the Weinmeisterboden hut you reach the highest elevation of the municipality of St. Marein-Feistritz, the Hämmerkogel.
The parish church of St. Marein "Maria im Paradiese" is worth seeing. It does not have this name for nothing. Founded around 1140, it shines from afar against the panorama of the Seckau Alps from a hill. It received its Gothic appearance around 1440. The frescoes inside the parish church are remarkable. The first church foundation in our parish goes back to the Lords of Traisen. They built the first church in Feistritz, "St. Johann zu Feistritz" around 1070.
Two kindergartens in the main villages provide year-round care for the youngest children. The St. Marein primary school was generously expanded and renovated in 2019/2020 and brought up to date.
Handicraft businesses provide work for the residents. The building and furniture carpentry Hammer, the building company Hartleb and the art smithy Wechselberger in Feistritz are to be highlighted. It became particularly well known through an original feature on television. Service companies such as the St. Marein motorway service station, Steyr Center and others round off the variety of businesses.
