    Winter in Schladming-Dachstein

In winter, our region is transformed into the biggest skiing hub in Styria. 10 ski mountains and around 230 km of pistes are available for the enjoyment of everyone, whether you are just a casual skier or a true “pro”.

The 4 Mountain Ski Area is the heart of the ski region, uniting the Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and Hauser Kaibling. The smaller guests and beginning skiers on our family ski mountains don’t just learn to ski, they learn to LOVE to ski.

The Schladming-Dachstein Region is also a home for Nordic skiing. To be specific, on the sunny plateau of Ramsau am Dachstein. Here, the sun shines down from early in the morning to late in the afternoon, making it possible to enjoy long and leisurely ski tours on an incredible 220 km of beautifully maintained trails.

Aside from these main activities, families, couples and friends are also able to discover a wide range of other winter sports. That said, you can explore the snowy countryside on 300 km of winter hiking paths, seven sledding hills, snuggled comfortably in the back of a horse-drawn sleigh, or even on a fat bike.

    Cross-country skiing

Even though Schladming-Dachstein lies in the heart of Austria, Nordic sports also have a rich tradition here. With 220 km of perfectly maintained ski trails, this cross-country Eldorado on the sunny Ramsau am Dachstein plateau has long attracted the international elite of Nordic skiing in addition to pure holidaymakers. Amid the incomparable mountain scenery that flanks Dachstein Glacier, the world’s longest glacier ski trail promises an extraordinary experience at 2700 m above sea level. Whenever you are ready to recharge your batteries, there are plenty of eateries and watering holes along the way. If you would like to learn how to cross-country ski, we suggest turning to one of our  cross-country schools. But if you are content simply watching, we might suggest the FIS World Cup in the Nordic Combined which will be held here in December.
