The highest chapel in Styria.
The Glattjoch is a pass of the Niedere Tauern at 1.989 m above sea level. This sacred building is the only known cantilever vault construction in dry masonry in Central Europe and has exactly the same proportions as the "boat-shaped oratories" in Ireland and the "bories" in France. It is assumed that the chapel was built in the 9th to 10th century during the conversion of the local pagan Bajuwar and Karantan people. The Glattjoch mountain church service is held annually in June.
